What happened to that young girl is horrendous no matter what race/ethnicity she is. But why is it immediately broadcast when the victim is black/hispanic or any other race and the suspect is white. When the victim is white and the suspect is anything other than white there is no mention of that fact. Just curious!!!

What brings me to your 3 and a half year-old blurb? A 1996 Times Mag citation in D.T. Max's DFW biog. in which it references Ethan Hawke attending the book release of IJ. AKW, huh?! :D
I was just searching around to see if Ethan had commented on the novel. BTW, a new Linklater's putting out the third installment of that Sunrise series called Before Midnight.

Cornyn really is dreadful. But just wait until he teams up with Cruz. Texas has turned so many people off. I am a native Texan who woke up in November 2004 and realized that Bush had stolen another election. I began searching for somewhere else to live. I now live on a wonderful little island off the coast of Cancun, Isla Mujeres. I live in the colonia and have Mexican neighbors. I spend only pesos and am struggling to learn Spanish even though most of my neighbors speak English.
I hope you are encouraging your fellow feminists, Democrats and Chicano citizens to vote this time around. The Castro twin (whose name I can't recall) should be elected to Congress. If only Sadler could defeat Cruz. If Texas turns blue and goes for Obama, I might move back!

I was googling for feminist short stories and found your other blog... aaand I love you. I've barely scratched the surface of either blog, but as a bookworm and feminist Texan (met my spouse at Santa Ana NWR!) ...it's just incredibly reassuring to know you're out there. Growing up in Houston was odd, politically, but as I moved to smaller and smaller towns, I finally got to know myself - and now I live in a teeeeeny town of about 400 people and it's amazing. West Texas is awesome. We have book nerds and old hippies and a few young hippies and... yeah. But all of my internet feminism seems to be from any coast that isn't the Gulf. So it's just fantastic to see local content! Rock on!

yeah and, i think it's clear from the pilot episode that the protagonist is a sexist man... certainly does nothing to challenge mulvey's "male gaze."
